Role Overview
As a Service Technician, you’ll be part of the frontline team that keeps customer equipment performing at its best. This is a practical, hands-on role where you’ll learn from experienced Engineers, build your technical skills, and support customers on-site through maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation work.
You’ll play an important part in ensuring equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and delivering a professional service experience. Key responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment and systems according to standard operating procedures and maintenance checklists to ensure optimal performance and minimise unplanned downtime.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting and repairs for common hardware and equipment issues, replacing parts where required and escalating complex problems with clear documentation of findings.
- Support equipment installations by assisting with equipment setup, mounting, cabling, basic configuration, site preparation, and functional checks under supervision.
- Maintain accurate service documentation by completing service reports, maintenance logs, and equipment records and submitting them within required timelines.
- Deliver basic customer support on‑site by providing job status updates, responding to simple enquiries about equipment use or service activities, and representing the company professionally.
- Follow all safety procedures, use tools and equipment correctly, and comply with company and customer site safety regulations.
- Collaborate with Field Service Engineers and Senior Service Engineers to continually improve technical skills and service quality.
Escalation & decision scope
- Escalates non‑routine faults, repeated failures, or issues outside standard procedures to Field Service Engineer or Senior Service Engineer.
- Works from assigned work orders and does not approve deviations from SOPs or special parts usage.
- Seeks guidance for customer communication in sensitive or escalated situations.
Requirements
- Able and willing to work rostered 12-hour shifts as required by the role
- Diploma in Electrical, IT, Mechanical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related technical field; OR Hands-on experience in technical service, maintenance, installation, or repair roles is preferred but not essential
- Fresh Diploma graduates with strong technical aptitude are welcome to apply
- Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, or IT systems
- Able to follow technical manuals, diagrams, and work instructions
- Basic computer skills for accessing documentation and submitting service reports
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and develop technical skills
- Basic problem-solving ability and logical thinking
- Good time management and punctuality
- Professional, respectful, and customer-oriented attitude
- Able and willing to travel to customer sites; flexibility for occasional after-hours support when required.
