Reports to: Head of Service Delivery
The Service Technician is a hands‑on technical role responsible for executing routine preventive maintenance, performing basic troubleshooting, and supporting equipment installations under the guidance of more senior Engineers. The role focuses on following established procedures, ensuring equipment reliability, and providing on‑site support to customers.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment and systems according to standard operating procedures and maintenance checklists to ensure optimal performance and minimise unplanned downtime.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting and repairs for common hardware and equipment issues, replacing parts where required and escalating complex problems with clear documentation of findings.
- Support equipment installations by assisting with equipment setup, mounting, cabling, basic configuration, site preparation, and functional checks under supervision.
- Maintain accurate service documentation by completing service reports, maintenance logs, and equipment records and submitting them within required timelines.
- Deliver basic customer support on‑site by providing job status updates, responding to simple enquiries about equipment use or service activities, and representing the company professionally.
- Follow all safety procedures, use tools and equipment correctly, and comply with company and customer site safety regulations.
- Collaborate with Field Service Engineers and Senior Service Engineers to continually improve technical skills and service quality.
Escalation & decision scope
- Escalates non‑routine faults, repeated failures, or issues outside standard procedures to Field Service Engineer or Senior Service Engineer.
- Works from assigned work orders and does not approve deviations from SOPs or special parts usage.
- Seeks guidance for customer communication in sensitive or escalated situations.
Requirements
- ITE/NITEC / Higher NITEC in Electrical, IT, Mechanical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related technical field; OR Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience in technical service, maintenance, installation, or repair roles
- Fresh ITE/Higher NITEC graduates with strong technical aptitude are welcome to apply
Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, or IT systems
- Able to follow technical manuals, diagrams, and work instructions
- Basic computer skills for accessing documentation and submitting service reports
