IJN Introduces i-Pharmabot to Improve Medication Dispensing with Automation

Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Malaysia’s leading heart hospital, has introduced “i-Pharmabot,” the country’s first automated dispensing medication system for outpatient pharmacy services.

This milestone development, implemented by Omni-Health, marks a significant advancement in medication dispensing and patient care.

The system was officially launched on 18 October by the Chairman of IJN Holdings, Dato Sri Chen Chaw Min. i-Pharmabot streamlines key pharmacy tasks, including sorting, labeling, and dispensing medications.

By automating these processes, the technology enhances accuracy, reduces wait times, and improves the overall patient experience.

“While the technology behind i-Pharmabot is similar to those used in the United States and the United Kingdom, what sets ours apart is that it has been specifically tailored for our outpatient services,” said Datuk Seri Dr Chen Chaw Min during the launch.

IJN Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah highlighted the broader impact of the innovation, calling it a key step in integrating advanced technology with patient-centered healthcare. “This is another milestone for IJN in delivering precision and efficiency to our patients,” he remarked.

The development of i-Pharmabot was made possible through a collaboration between Omni-Health, RoboPharma, and Capsa Healthcare. The project involved close teamwork between the Omni-Health Malaysian team and IJN staff to ensure smooth integration and optimal workflow.

One of the main benefits of this technology is its ability to relieve pharmacists from repetitive tasks, allowing them to focus on providing personalized care, answering patient questions, and offering valuable guidance.
